I am not very keen on desal plants but if we are to continue the effective ban on new dams while increasing our population they seem inevitable.
These are capital intensive sporadically needed factories.
Currently Perth is short of water. Queensland dams are overflowing and the new Gold Coast desal plant is unnecessary for a few years. Victoria is building a huge plant which seemed like a good idea until the recent rains.
It seems sensible to me that we should buy a couple of large capacity ship mounted plants which could go to the place in most need. This would maximise their utilisation.
