The choice at the next election is appaling. Turnbull, the applicant the ALP rejected, has proven the wisdom of the ALP in that decision. Mr Shorton's best qualifications are that he wasn't convicted of rape and can be counted on to agree with whatever the CFMEU tell him.

The Greens, One Nation and Conservative Party are colourful protest parties but could only be balance of power players.

What a sad position we find ourselves in, led by a Ship of Fools.

Australia needs new talent at the head of the ALP and Liberals. Someone needs to drain the Canberra swamp.

Pity the military won't drain the swamp - and will leave us to another decade of suffering the two-party fools.......I am sure there are more-poorly led western countries....but I honestly can't think of one except Germany. And if Labor gets another gig - we may sink past Merkel's worst....
