CSSC Tai Yuan departed Koolan Island this morning for Qingdao, China. Do you know that Chinese beer that comes in green bottles with a red label? Tsing Tao? It comes from the same place. Qingdao is just an updated way to say the city name in English. Like Peking became Beijing.
So the beer is not actually, and never has been, pronounced "Sing Towe". To say it like a local, it's more like Jing Dow [as in Dow Jones]
No new ships coming to rescue the bottom line so far.
