legally force majeure is an event typically outside of your control which frustrates the completion or performance of a contract eg you are shipping oil and the tanker gets hijacked and you miss your delivery date, in this instance you are not liable for late delivery/non-delivery penalties. I suspect FMG has a very good arguement to make legally which will underpin a commercial settlement well below its contracted shipping rates, hey the world changes shippers, tough bananas
