Now I can vouch for that last statement, having travelled the length of RIO's rail line June 9 2014.

1) If there were a derailment (and they happen), it would tie up all operations depending on the line, no matter who's fault.

Point is though, if FMG's fault, wouldn't RIO feel entitled to compensation over and above the rent? Duh. lol

2) RIO have teams dedicated to collecting dead cow train collateral off the rail line.

They are busy too, but who is going to be responsible when the other doesn't have a scheduled train?
Maybe two teams??? But then who gets to keep the bounty.

In the end, FMG went their own way and probably muttered under their breath as they exited stage left, that it was a better outcome anyway.
