It has always been my contention that the cumulative effect and the fees which occur on almost every transaction makes Australia a VERY high taxed country
This cumulative effect has increased by the business culture where there are so many "in between" businesses
IE business which are in the middle 0f every transaction, whereas in earlier times if you wanted a potato, you drove there and paid the man cash and went home to cook it
Now if you follow that humble potato on it's journey to your table you will find numerous transactions that take place all of which pay taxes that come out of the simple handling of the potato you have with your dinner.
These transactions do not improve the flavor or it's goodness in fact they diminish it's quality and flavor but that's how business operates today

Yup, fair point. The REAL problem though is that with all of those in between transactions the government has it's hand out for more taxes, 'permits', 'licences' and anything else they can conjur up in order to strip the working economy of it's life.
