Agree Oliveoyl that USA won the Cold War. Essentially this wasn't a military war but one of pure economics. They outspent the Soviets who didn't have the economic base to supports the arms race.
In term of miliyary conflict with non-major powers, the USA record is not good. I don't see the weight of USA economy or military technology winning the Iraq war.
