good point boatboy - and in the end, buttrose was no more than a token woman.... ok - no more, no less than other women - where some were more competent than others.

the track record of female political leaders (that includes at the state level) is pretty hopeless.

watso is not sure if gillard was promoted as part of a deliberate policy of gender equalization - but in the end, it could have been that gillard was going to cost labor an extra 10 or 20 seats (ok - hard to prove - but a lot of labor people are happy with the number).

it might be a long time , before labor think about another female leader.

the real gillard was probably always "young and naive" - but then again she had more maturity than krudd with his selfies.

it was labor who dumped krudd inside his first term, it was labor who dumped gillard inside her first term - and finally it was the electorate who dumped labor with their lowest primary vote in 100 years - and here on hc, the premier political forum in australia, there are desperadoes trying to claim that the abbott government is a failure, before it has even been sworn in.

gillard played the gender card - and lost big time. a short period after the "women for gillard" campaign - and gillard was nothing more than a used tampon in the refuse bin in the womens toilet
