To assist in assessing relative traffic numbers, the Westgate Freeway to the Citylink tunnels takes 160,000 vehicles per day. Eastlink reckoned they could get 270,000! IMHO, I thik this was a beat up. Whoever did the traffic modelling were almost negligent in my opinion, when you compare the volumes of daily traffic on Citylink . AND Citylink also has the advantage that it has the Tullamarine, Monash and part of the Westgate Freeways converging into the city (the hub). Eastlink is out in the suburbs and as you've mentioned takes traffic off Springvlae Rd and Stud Rds. These roads carry insignficanlty less traffic than the Monash (approx 120,000 vehilces per day), Westgate (160,000 vehilces) and the Tullamarine (don't have any info on this freeway). ANd yet the expect a greater volume of traffic!

Go figure! Can we launch a lawsuit for gross incompetence?
