So a shorter borrows 10c of stock from an entity to sell.
Entity: -10c (debit)
Shorter: +10c (credit)
6 months go by, stock now worth 3c.. and entity agrre to buy it back from the shorter at 3c.
Entity: -13c total
Shorter: +7c total
Who is "the entity" and why would they ever take the risk on speculatives when such stocks normally do go down?
