On today’s data, the aggregate went up by about 5.5 million short sales on Wednesday 22nd, down by a similar amount on the Thursday, and up again on Friday by roughly the same amount. I don’t recall seeing similar behaviour in the past.
With the rebalance announcement coming tomorrow it will be very interesting to watch these data unfold for this week.
