Sorry but how does options help bring the price of the underlying back in line? A option is just a derivative. Sure it’s a good place to trade on price movements but if you can’t short a stock then the natural direction can keep going one way without check.
Shorting is an integral part of a well functioning market. Sure you can hate what you perceive is unfair manipulation of this stock and others but short selling is an important balancer which helps market discovery and pricing efficiency.
Not having shorting in a market only prolongs asset bubbles and would encourage more pump and dump over exuberance. It’s a necessary check on things.
I’ve said this a thousand times use them to your advantage. There is a reason PNV has been shorted over the years and it was because the price was based on significant amount of growth expectations. Eg 50% year on year at one point.
What I think is far worse than shorting is high frequency algorithmic trading which can trade 1 share at a time without or minimal brokerage costs. Which is something retail investors can’t do. This is the unfair advantage people should complain about
