Short Activity in PNV, page-8

Regal was talking down PNV at Sohn Hearts and Mind Conf. mid-November. The article that reported on that originally in the AFR has conveniently been removed but there was another article on 25th Nov ("Bubble' in biotech stocks troubles investors") roughly a week later noting the comments from Phil. That puts it at the 18th November and the chart below shows the short rising a few days before that.


My distinct impression is that DW is releasing announcements to drive a spike into the shorting momentum. As the shorting has provided some opportunities to accumulate I won't be too churlish with the shorters. On paper there are some red flags but the difference here is the business model just trashes the standard metrics IMHO.
For a longer history see below. Shorts tested the waters in September-October but jumped back out. It seems shorting was encouraged by what looks like profit taking after a squeeze in early October when the shorts dropped quickly. There is a potential for a similar post-squeeze profit taking episode again now before the next report is due. Long-termers won't be too fussed I expect.
