yeah, its a bit like toilet paper.... sometimes there is just a big rush!
you're right, as I've heard basically vendors cancelled chip orders... which was a big mistake, as the rush for owning cars & WFH computers actually created more demand, not less. But there was no excess capacity at the big foundries, so when they tried to replace their orders, they went to the back of the queue. Sounds like everyone had very low stockpiles, running just in time delivery methodologies.
