i hope so... i hope there could be a short squeeze made the prices above $100 so I could retire in my 30s...
but the reality is, it's quite funny to blame shorters on the price drop, imo.
two basic principles of share prices, net assets & growth, ddr has very low net assets per share, which leaves the growth to be the key supporting its share price. major growth started in fy18 from the result of express data acquisition, before that, year on year growth were under 5%, what was the share price in FY17? if ddr couldn't keep the growth at certain level, it's very difficult to maintain a relatively high share price, no matter if someone was shorting or not
i believe they are back on track since apr, but like i analysed before, now the divs & expectations are set, even if investors knew the following quaters are better, why would they not wait until the big final div? besides that, last q2 alone was 543m renevue, biggest ever, so it's still quite challenging for this q2.
anyways, shorters are sharks, they hunt when they smell blood, like i said, the strategy ddr set is vulnerable, now the company is bleeding and will take time to recover (hope it wont be too long)
