I don't really like shorting either but I can see the benefits and have used it to hedge a position. Have a fair few ANZ shares and want to keep them so after xd shorted them
and done well. But on the other hand I can see where big hedge funds and others can decimate markets for there gain.
But on the other hand to shorters get caught to, VW was shorted in Germany big time but the porsche family and others got togeather and let the shorters push it down all the time buying those shares. Then at 35% down they pushed it up 55% from where it was , the shorters got caught out one German billionare lost everything and killed himself hedge funds lost billions, it was rumoured to have cost shorters 14 bil euros to untangle the mess they got into. Is it right or wrong I don't know but its a tool at my disposal so I use it.
