I think it is a prudent part of any research. Each to their own, however this is a short data thread.
Some people think charts are a waste of time as well, I think they are (again) a very useful and prudent part of research.
Underestimate the impact, positive or negative, the level (and increasing or decreasing volume)of shorts may have on share price movements at your own peril.
