    I agree and I think we retail shareholders are all missing something because the brokers don’t let us see the whole picture.

    The figure we can see on the shortman site appears to show the shorts that are outstanding at a point that is around one week ago. This seems to mean those shares that have been borrowed and sold and not yet returned to the owner at that report date.

    On the other hand, the ASX report gives a total of shares that were sold short on the trading day prior to its report.

    I can’t see any way to reconcile these two reports because we are never told how many shares are bought back or how many are returned to their owner.
