unfortunately not, if you are shorting you are only concerned about the companies share price going down. when they buy the shares back, they are not then "holding" these shares, it is just how they exit their short position. google "covering your shorts"
same concept as if you were to go and sell the shares you own today, you are not then "short" because you sold, you just exited your long position. you are going 1 dimension too deep.
anyway i dont really care either way, tesla was once one of the most shorted stocks in the u.s.
