I don't think that this sensationalism will be the truth. Yes they are trying to do what they can for the economy (albeit illegal) but taking away the wealth of many in this current situation by flooding the smaller gold market (smaller to the equ etc) would be nothing but a trigger to the world that nothing is safe and the "cash under mattress" scenario (deflation) will be with us for a very very long time.
Some people when they get older hear things that aren't attached to reality!!
