1. Market matters regulated by ASIC under the Corporations Act
ASIC is the market regulator in Australia. It oversees the laws governing the licensing and operation of financial markets and clearing and settlement facilities, and the provision of financial services, in Australia. As market regulator, ASIC is responsible for administering (among other things) the provisions in the Corporations Act regulating:
• insider trading;
• market manipulation;
• short selling;
• high frequency trading;
