The owner lends out generally on a buyback basis at an agreed price generally at a percent higher than the last traded price so if last trade 24 I sell on buy back to the borrower at 35 cents that way if the borrower of the shares defaults I have some comfort.
borrower of shares buys at .35 cents while the lender promised to buy back at a .35 less interest 6 percent per day.
The shares are then delivered against a sold position by the shorter - got it ? It’s exactly the same as when u buy shares it’s the same transaction for settling.
now get on with your life I’ve been hearing about this for 45 years.
