agreed it is May however i have read elswhere that there is a bit of momentum behind the "short everything Australian" philosophy in the global market..all they have to do is short BHP and RIO and anyone long on the asx is in trouble.. BBG is small fry in comparison
the australian dollar was over cooked, commodities are over cooked, and now the whole market is returning to the mean.. a bit of a correction that we had to have
i'm just lucky that i skimmed my portfolio 4 weeks ago for some spending money because right now i'm staring at a 30% wipeout.. again luckily that was all profit and i'm still 5% in the black
IMHO institutional shorting has dramatically accelerated the collapse of confidence on our market and has perfectly exploited the overcooked commodity cycle..
retail has been copping it for 6-12 months, now its the resources turn..and it has been swift and ugly..
is there a positive catalyst out there or are we in for more pain?
