If the merchant gets increased business due to Afterpay I don't see why not? I personally wouldn't use credit cards to pay for a jacket, I'm too stingy to pay interest on it, however, I wouldn't mind using Afterpay.
This also differentiates Afterpay from Payday lending, APT makes profit by charging the retailers, not the customers (unless they don't pay back in time).
