Its pretty clear that Citizenship AND permanently residing in a country confers benefits, at least in the EU domain.
If they are Danish living in Germany, they are NOT German citizens - just 'residents', so why should they get to vote in German elections.
Isnt it similar here ..... if you give up your residency status and dont intend to return in 6 years you lose your right to vote in Aust.
I can't agree with those who think they 'have a right' to plant their backside in whatever country is convenient, live like a local as a 'permanent resident', yet still retain all the benefits of their country of citizenship whilst not paying taxes etc in their country of citizenship.
