Actually, may i kindly suggest that your understanding of shorting is not entirely accurate. A short seller technically wants the share price to decline, which is not the same as "betting against the share price rising"
Also, another fundamental difference is that when you buy shares you own the shares whereas a short seller typically borrows them from a broker.
