This link (http://www.asic.gov.au/asic/asic.nsf/byheadline/AD08-22+Update+on+ASIC’s+response+to+short+selling?openDocument) state shorting banned for 30 days. Up for review this week.
As much as I don't agree with shorting (I mean you can't sell a chicken if you don't have one!) it has not stopped the markets descent into the abyss. Will not be surprised if the ban is lifted.
