short selling driving targets share price down

For those that remember Richard Cottee and his days with Queensland Gas may like to read this story on the battle he faces with short selling..

First, Cameroon-focused iron ore play Sundance Resources received a 50c per share, $1.44bn offer from China's Hanlong Mining -- an offer price well below the 80c per share-plus peaks scaled by the stock late last year.

On the same day, Santos announced an agreed all-scrip takeover offer for NSW coal-seam gas play Eastern Star that valued the company at about 90c -- a handsome premium to the 59.5c Eastern Star was trading at before the offer, but below the $1 a share Santos originally paid for a 19.9 per cent stake in Eastern Star in July 2009."
