Just been having a chat with my broker about how someone could have got stock to short ADO and he made an interesting point.
In order to short the stock someone/some fund would need to have allowed the stock to be borrowed. This does not mean that they are aware that it has been borrowed either. Apparently if your stock is in a nominee then some allow stock to be borrowed by others.
So the stock borrow could be coming from either the institutional holders, or one of the other substantial holders having stock available to borrow.
Might be worth someone with a better relationship with the company ringing them and making them aware of this.....and maybe suggesting to those substantial holders that this might be happening.
I doubt any large holder would be pleased to know they were helping someone to belt the shareprice.
Let me know if my broker is barking up the wrong tree, but it seemed to make sense to me.
