I have shorted twice before, one of those times it worked out really well. I was able to borrow the shares in a mining IPO from an insto that wasn’t escrowed but was obliged to hold the shares for a short period of time after listing. The thing tripled on the first day and I shorted it down to a double on the second day. This instance where there was a fair bit of loose stock among a bunch of insto’s with most following a ‘don’t dump on day 1 rule’ resulted in a big pullback on the second day that I was able to ride.
