Shortman is showing that the aggregate position seemed to plateau from around Aug 27 (or arguably Aug 21).

It feels like our shorters were waiting to see if some buying support would come in before adding to their short position. When it didn't appear it looks like they decided to give it another nudge late last week but maybe someone lost their nerve today. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. The last three months have seen 2.2m added to the total short position - this could be fun when it starts to unwind.
