ST Trading part time also but for the last 3-4 years I could honestly say I would have spent more time at the part time job than the full, early mornings and vary late nights pretty much till I fell asleep and woke up with the imprint of the keyboard on my forehead. 3 years prior to that I don't think I was taking the learning seriously enough. I think its import that it has minimum impact on family time especially with the kids at a young age and the older they get the more quality time with them for me is a priority. It’s pretty much why I have backed off as far as posting the tips is concerned as that was where about 25% of my time was going, another 25% has recently been trimmed with more efficiencies in setup and stricter time management to achieve each of the daily tasks.
You know when you have a potential fatal attraction (dangerous love affair) to a stock when the following occur:-
1. You instantly dismiss any criticism laid against your beloved almost instantly with really considering it.
2. When you imagine the share price halving and then halving again and without thought of selling because the story is too good.
3. When you have no exit plan other than when its multiples of profit
4. When you could not bear to sell it because it is in the massively red (usually a form of shotgun love) ...you are a hostage actually.. it owes you?
5. When you hold on to stock even though all of its peers have devalued massively since you bought it and there is no logical reason for it to be so high
6. When you "Put it in the bottom draw" next to the socks as an excused for not addressing a potential loss, it'll come good.
7. When you get extremely angry at the trolls on its thread instead of logically debating its merits
Its the worst possible scenario ... Stock market and love affairs almost always end badly... One poor chap recently posted he has lost his house , kids , wife and lives in debt (to buy stock) in a rented caravan, but still after all that doggedly still pouring money into the same dog stock that stole everything from him... hence fatal attraction. If you are thinking that a stock "Owes" you money then you are of the wrong mindset to make consistent returns. When I suggested he should sell up and attempt to use this as a learning experience it was cordially dismissed ... I hope that same guy has seen the light, dumped the lemon and started following the STT leaders ... Too many people hold long term... quite often forced by bad investment decisions or by laziness to keep an eye on the stock. Only 1 in 500 spec stocks actually make and maintain massive gains over the long term... you would want to be sure you have the one... I'm talking the RVR, LNG, SIR types of stocks. Hence I'm predominantly a short term trader ...
