I am NOT talking about electrode manufacturing, which needle and anthracite coke are in short supply. This has been erroneously and inaccurately associated with the graphite powder industry by the likes of third party market firms including Benchmark, Roskill, and Industrial Minerals. I am talking about primary synthetic graphite production whether it iso-moulded (block) or Acheson processed (not extruded) to produce primary synthetic graphite powders. Since I having worked for several recognised producers of iso-moulded and primary synthetic graphite powder for many years, I have an intimated understanding of the process and the costs to produce.

The ONLY connection graphite electrodes has with the graphite powder industry is the machined scrap from electrode or other machined graphite manufacturing that is sold to a processor who mills the graphite scrap into specific PSD's and sells to industries such as lubricants, friction, and PEM bi-polar plate compression moulding manufacturing.

It would be incumbent on those who cite graphite electrodes as part of the graphite powder industry discussion to conduct a full research to understand the differences.
