I read a good conspiracy theory about a month ago. The bots have been programmed when they see a "standard charting pattern" … to go and wreck it. Confusion and chaos follows, along with lots of stop losses being hit, and plenty of cheapies for the bots. You'd have to think, as part of this master plan, that the stock would eventually have to go up … otherwise what's the point of it all. Surely?

The theory has merit as they really only care about the number of pips they can scrape, not the size of the pip..

Does it lend itself to a belief that these bots are indeed "learning" from their actions?
