Yes there has been talk of this for a while. Its importance - if it became a reality - is magnified by the past week's events surrounding Russia and the firing of the Secretary of State. The National Security Advisor has made it clear that he is on the same page as the newly departed Secretary of State per Russian attempts to influence western elections. As of right now, the White House press secretary is denying the Post's report and saying there will be no changes in NSC. Perhaps they know better than to push things too far too fast. Sources within the WH are loose lipped and quite accurate in the past year, and it is clear to many that the President is doing anything and everything to keep from getting on the Kremlin's bad side. Even the sanctions that came today had been procrastinated on for many months.
