In Oz, this week, we are seeing news items about facial recognition tech much along the same lines of those 2. Interesting coincidence...is it just news agencies following each other? or something a little deeper??
A little anecdote... I knew a person who quoted Crown casino for their security needs... part of the specs was for facial recognition [this was prior to 2000!]... the casino wanted tech which wasn't even being used in airports at the time.
Another anecdote... [Again Crown.. more than 10 years ago] One of their dealers was walking to his car after work and about a block away witnessed a minor car accident. Part of his responsibility was to report it to management, which he did the next day. He arrived at the security office and discovered a full report had already been written out for him... all he had to do is sign it.
This stuff is not new. It already is a part of our society and its going to get worse... imo. [got to go now... I think that spider on the ceiling is actually a robot]
