Re payment solution space - have wondered for a while why smartphones aren't being used as POS devices with Paywave/Paypass given most are NFC capable (i.e. customer waves card over merchant's smartphone instead of bank supplied device). Did a patent search yesterday and found a relevant patent application https://patents.google.com/patent/CA2853146A1/en?q=phone&q=Paywave . Contacted the holder and there is a beta app for it. http://www.nimja.net/ Unfortunately no publically listed company to get in on it.
