I like the thought of WD as an potential adopter or buyer of the tech precisely because I don't see them as a one of the existing semiconductor incumbents. They're perhaps not wedded to flash in the same way as Samsung and Intel and would be more open to taking a different approach and jumping straight to the flash successor.
