If one bases their investment case on solid research (macros, sector, peer valuations, cash flow, cash reserves etc) or technicals, social media should be water off a duck's back. I'm almost a convert these days to the theory that if someone is green enough to buy, based on SM, they simply need to be given a hiding from the market to teach them how foolish fomo is. It's like the naughty little boy and no matter how many times you tell them not to touch the flame, they end up with singed fingers. The worry is if a newbie puts large sums into a stock, before they've been taught the lesson but not sure you can teach someone to bury their fomo, kinda have to live it and feel the shafting, else it's all just theory.
