Immutep is a biotechnology company developing novel immunotherapy treatments for cancer and autoimmune disease, with operations in Europe, Australia, and the U.S.
Like many anti-cancer research these days, IMM are working with ways to assist the immune system to fight cancer, and they have several products under development with one pre-clinical and three clinical. They are world leaders of utilizing the Lymphocyte Activation Gene-3 (“LAG-3”), which their Chief Medical Officer discovered, and their lead product is used to modulate the LAG cell in conjunction with chemo and immune therapy in breast and melanoma cancer treatments.
What is unique and interesting about their research, is that their lead product (LAG-3Ig or IMP321) works in regulating the T-cell immune response, which enables the immune system to fight cancer naturally, as opposed to other drugs that attempt to fight cancer.
They have a lot going on presently and their phase 1 interim results for a melanoma trial are being presented this week as mentioned in the above post.
It is likely that these pending results are the cause of the recent sp appreciation both on the NASDAQ and ASX. Whether this is enough to bring home the bacon on this STT tip is anyone's guess, but unless I put it out there, we'll never know. However, I am confident in some continual appreciation of the sp as their is much news coming near term.
