Sorry but, you seem to not at all understand what Flexiroam or World Phone are.
You're correct that apps like Line, Skype, Viber can all be used to make cheap/free voice/video calls through the internet. This is one option for travellers who only want to do just that.
Here are the things that both Flexiroam and World Phone are offering:
- lease foreign phone numbers to make and receive calls as a local contact number. Even receive voicemail.
- make and receive calls on the celular network of wherever you are, instead of being charged exorbitant roaming charges. Even line/ skype / viber will cost insane roaming charges unless you're connected to your hotel wifi or something.
-What do you do if someone wants to contact you when you're out and about? How about people in the country you're visiting who want to call you? You expect a taxi driver to make a booking confirmation with you by calling or texting you at your foreign number and paying for it? (This is the example that was given in the launch presentation)
Skype/viber/line are great for what they are. But unless you have free wifi or affordable 3g/4g (at decent speeds) wherever you are all the time at your travel destinations, you have to admit that they offer limited utility.
With flexiroam/ world phone, you can use those apps on your phone via the internet on the local cellular network, at a reasonable price.
These apps aren't in the same space as Line/skype/viber. Their intended application is to fill the gap of the things that those existing internet calling apps cannot do.
Theyre not competing against skype/line/viber. They're in a space of their own.

Now if we consider that both Flexiroam and World Phone are close in price and functionality, the one thing that will set them apart will be the packaging - i.e. The marketing. At this stage, it's pretty clear that FRX is kicking NOR's behind at it.
