I've found catching knives to be very profitable the last few weeks. I think the key is waiting until you can smell the blood -- when the threads make it seem like the next stop is $0 (but fundamentally you disagree), is a good time for it IMO.

XPE, SRF, VTG, and EHE today have all offered 20% intraday swings and even up to 70% over a few days in the case of SRF. Seems effective on the big caps.
