Today, the last few weeks and last few months have proven to be very buoyant in spec land.
Lots of hot money flowing in and around at the moment. Some observers measure relative health of the XSO based on the number of placements and capital raising's attempted or achieved, noting that even last week there was a noticeable uptick. Feels like this week has continued with that trend.
We are yet to see the highs of continual capital raisings being achieved without stock trading back to the raise price, but some starting to get a bit more worrying in this regard.
The main drivers are sentiment in my view, which is made up from all sort of factors.
If you are determined enough and stick to your objective of a 10 year goal, you are starting with a good plan. Be wary of changing your objectives or expectation unrealistically .. just because you might have made 20-30% profit on your account this week or month - doesn't mean you can extrapolate it for the rest of the year.
Follow the STT threads, read the STT Knowledge Library. Follow how stocks move, what people on HC have said (most importantly, go back after a stock has gone up 100% and look at who was posting before it moved .. see where they have done that for multiple stocks) .. observe those posters and avoid the ones that appear on a thread once its up 10, 30 or 50%. Try and work out what happens before a stock moves and get set in it before the masses arrive.
Review what works and what doesn't. Do more of the former, less of the later. If you can repeat this for 10 years I have no doubt you will have a nicely increased portfolio
