I do know that WPL , Shell etc started an apprenticeship programme about 4 years ago specific to different areas in their industry. Had hundreds of applicants and chose 12. Its been a yearly recruitment since then. Apparently first 2 years in class room setting, then sent to different locations and within the group. At the end of the 4 years are offered a position. Looks like they were getting prepared even back then, when all looked gloom and doom.
