Think that the pouring of the wine would be more important in exposing to air than the greater area. A Melbourne wine dealer had a special pourer which both filtered deposits and aerated as it poured. Made a huge difference. Big drawback was eventually forgetting to take it out of finished bottle and losing it. Maybe the contents of the bottle had a little to do with the forgetting!
Will also taste different, as Sector Lead suggests, according to the meal or bites that you are also eating.
