I think if we took a poll on everyone's results they would look very similar to what you have experienced.
Last year when the markets around the world crashed money was printed and things dramatically reversed. In that environment many people did well but, I suspect, most of us overplayed our hands. Success breeds excess. I had a terrific year but gave back 70% ... things improved a bit recently but mentally I have stopped thinking about it... just getting on with things.
