The stock market is a test of character and mental attitude. It is stressful, and your will to win plays a major part.
The number of people whose persona changes the minute the market opens is amazing, its like they go into a different zone.
I don't know if anyone here follows test cricket, but two individuals from that game come to mind.
Steve Waugh- his twin Mark, really was a better more natural and talented cricketer, but Steve was the one who went on to captain Aus, and if some one asked me at the time who if your life depended on it would you want to bat for you- Steve every time. He placed a huge price on his wicket, the same price we should be placing on our capital.
Glenn McGrath- basically a gentle and caring soul, until he stepped over that boundary line- when white line fever kicked in. Methodical, accurate, patient, and oh so deadly with that ball. There were faster bowlers, more exciting to watch, but more dependable to deliver that wicket - doubt it IMHO. He himself has admitted that he suffered from white line fever, instead of fighting it, he used it to his advantage.
The stock market is a game, difference is, they knew who they were playing against, we really have no idea.
