I agree with your sentiments on China, however, the new assertive nature expressed since Xi Jinping has come to power is ruffling more than a few feathers, the naval incursions and sea grab aren't winning them any local friends, and the belt and road initiatives' are saddling many recipients with questionable levels of debt (perhaps the intention from the start). They could find themselves friendless, which doesn't really matter whilst the rest of the world needs their goods and wants access to their markets, but that won't last forever, before China became the world manufacturing hub it was the Asian Tigers, and before that it was Japan and Taiwan, although China has done it to an extent that no one previously was capable of.
