I read the 2 NYT articles you linked... all I can say is it's lucky he's there as a public servant, imagine how he might behave if he was there purely for self interest.

Hi @roberter1 .... education... is an obvious public good, the more well educated people in our society the better off we all are (even if those well educated people never do anything with it). Of course education should be free and available to anyone who wants it. Stares you in the face that one.
