Wow where did all that late Friday buying come from in the collective spec stables…. ASN, NHL, ENB for those sea farers, having a bit of a nibble also...
Probably not the place for a Galba long winded special on a Friday afternoon, so if you’re getting your liquid on skip on through haha. Or if you are having a lazy one too like me and getting a bit slurry then glad to be with you!
I have been doing a bit of thinking on things of late and
@mouse ‘s spot on post about more and more people joining of Hot Copper and just looking back on SCU last week and other MM runners and just the wider spec end. It does seem more and more people are just punting blind, taking zero risk management strategies, and just getting stuck into people more and more and not taking blame for one’s own actions. Just looking at KPO today or even over the week is probably one of many examples. Makes me feel like the STT is still a far better place to be than the knit picking that can occur elsewhere.
I’m a glass half full kind of guy, well I at least try to be. Anyway point is, I was going to say something this morning about the MM argument that has carried on from last weekend, but my man
@Anton Chigurh put it very succinctly, or even a bit crudely (I might respectfully suggest) that people need to stop arguing and post the facts. No question from me as I definitely agree there, but I think to say that the STT is going to be immune from being perfect is almost impossible.
All we can do, or at least I think, (It’s
@Freehold ‘s thing) is be a community and positively encourage everyone to do the same, or aim for better. Damn I’m no hippie, but I respect
@strauss a heck of a lot for his ability to do DD on so many tiddler’s and
@specgoldbug for his charting and bringing MM stocks to the table (I know there’s a lot of you who did mention pot too, so I apologise!!). But I thought
@sharks37 your post was a cracker, and I guess, what ensued was the argument to continue or at least someone having the last word. Ladies and Gents, it’s nobody’s fault, arguments & debates happen and that is good, but it takes two people to continue, so that’s the challenge next time to let it go if you know it has got out of hand!! (Anyway sorry Free, I’m probably out of line. I ain’t no saint, or the police, just trying to help your sterling work mate!)
But Looking more and more at society, without writing a bloody essay is that people are becoming more and more impatient, and with social media, unfortunately people crave the attention. That is something we will just have to deal with or at least try and learn to tolerate. Heck I’m guilty a lot of the time for validating myself, and I’ve been quite open about it in my trading.
Anyway my overarching point here is to share some knowledge that I have found very helpful, about self-improvement. Perhaps I am alone, perhaps not, but I think trading is about learning from mistakes and getting better as an individual. But that is the key, we cannot compare ourselves to others. There are a lot of fine posters who share great stuff here, but all the individual can do is improve one self. I’m not much of a reader, but I’ve really enjoyed Robin Sharma’s – The Monk who sold his Ferrari.
Two quotes I’d love to share with you at the end of the book that I’ve taken away and tried to improve myself
- ‘Everyone is different. One of the fundamental principles that Yogi Raman taught me was that truly enlightened people never seek to be like others. Rather, they seek to be superior to their former selves. Don’t race against others. Race against yourself,”.
- Through the steel of discipline, you will forge a character rich with courage and peace. through the virtue of will, you are destined to rise to life's highest ideal and live within heavenly mansion filled with all that is good, joyful and vital. Without them, you are lost like a mariner without a compass, one who eventually sinks with his ship.
I’ve clogged too much of the STT Weekend forum with my thinking music, and
@Freehold you’ve absolutely tipped me off to a goodie. One of my favourite little thinking tune’s. And a top movie, even if I’m ashamedly in favour of good ole Liam Neeson. Allow me to post the epic ending too
(Alert SPOILERS)
@Anton Chigurh also made a cracking suggestion in putting up epic music concerts for a weekend. I’d like to propose the same with film soundtracks, if there’s an interest of course. Purely personally for me as I’m a visual kind of guy so visual and music connects more strongly for me.
Anyway to all you bloody legend’s. Have a great weekend and enjoy the Friday Brews
PS Sorry
@Sector for clogging up your STT Trading ideas too!
